I think they're spending too much time getting seasoned in the AHL.

Tonight, its the forwards killing us with turnovers at either blueline.

Though, Ghost made a terrible read that led to D. Sedin's goal.

I really like him. He's not providing much in the way of offense right now, and advanced stats hate him. I think that will improve, although its highly unlikely (IMO) that he'll ever be an offensive juggernaut.

I like that he leads the team in hits without really going out of his way to crush people, and he's effective at separating opposition players from the puck.

Even tonight when the team is playing horribly, he was an even +/- (which becomes a slightly more useful stat when one isnt on either PP unit) through two periods with four shots and two hits.

From last blog.

Call me insane.

but if the Bruins are not that close to the playoffs by the TD, I would not mind the Leafs grabbing Chara....I mean the Bruins and Leafs are rivals but not to the point where they wouldn't make a trade. Especially when Boston gets to grab some of the Leafs prospects.

I mean its just such a Lou move. Having all these rumored defensmen and then pull a deal like that.

Just for fun what does a rental Chara cost? I mean he is 40 it can't be crazy but he is still a top 4 minute eater.

thoughts?

I have no idea what Chara at 40 on an expiring contract would be worth in terms of trade. But, if the Leafs can fit him under the cap, he'd be a help to a team that could use a steadying influence on the blueline.

I wouldn't mind the physical presence but he is a pylon out there these days.

Well, I'm not pushing for 1st pair minutes for him.. but I do think he'd add depth and experience, and he's still a force to be reckoned with, although as you point out he's a force that is more easily avoided these days.

I'm just looking at the stats, advanced stats and all that poop. He's still a top 4 D that can play 22 mins a night. Pretty much what the Leafs need.

He's not the number 1 d man he used to be. But he's a good 3 or a very good 4. As a rental I don't see the harm. The Market for young d or d with term is (frank)ed. I don't think it's happening for them mid season. Have to wait until the draft

I wouldn't go that far

I think he'd look good behind Rielly and Hainsey.

It would give Gardiner a lot less d zone starts and easier competition. I think he'd flourish.

Idk. Might be too slow.

Though it sounds like we got Z's buddy oziganhov (sp) for next year.

A rental for this year could make a lot of sense
